Our Land

Territory

Part of the farm was originally owned from Zambra Barons, aristocratic family from Chieti.
It extends on the pleasant and sunny hill of Santa Maria Arabona. This beautiful hill starts from the highland of the Pescara river and finish to the Majella mountain and the homonym Park. An enchanting scenery, hills have been modeled by the time and human works, old farmhouses built using stone or "terra cruda", and secular olive trees, a stone's throw away from Majella.
The fertile terrains are fresh and well drained; they are totally exposed to south-east. This land offer an exceptional thermal excursion between day and night, because of the tides that flows from the Adriatic sea along the Pescara valley going up again toward the Majella mountain. This scenario gives our vineyard all is needed to realize products of the best excellence.

History

The farm is located on a very interesting historical context; we are very near (about 500 metres) to the cistercian abbey of Santa Maria Arabona, built in 1197. This church is the only one evidence in Abruzzo region of the artworks built by the Benedictine monks, grow out of the french cistercians.
The church was built in Gothic style using white stone. Impressive but simple, its interior offers decorated pillars and rich vaults.
The Volto Santo sanctuary is located 5 Km far to our farm. It is the destination of many pilgrimages. Inside the sanctuary is guarded a veil (well known as "the Veronica") on wich Jesus Christ face is engraved.
In September 2006 Pope Benedetto XVI has onored us with his presence coming in visit to the Sanctuary.

The Invitation

As per Abruzzo's traditions history, wine has constantly been a remarkable component.
If we look to old houses, we can find that every one of them has its own wine cellar. The wine cellars were meeting spots where in the company of the "wine's glass" people used to speak about information, opinions, society; in this context it was easy to consolidate friendships.
At home, in the important occasions, the bottle of wine was always present so it was a natural aggregation element.
Nowadays the way of living has changed, supplies are bought to the supermarket, apartments life doesn't allow to live big spaces and the contact with the origin places of the consumer products is harder to idenfity. This is the reason we offer the possibility to taste our products while giving a look to our vineyards and olive trees that surround us.
We will be happy to welcome you in our wine cellar where you will taste all of our wines, oil, jams and mosto cotto. They are all products coming from Orgaing Farming.
